PUBLIC LOTTERY DRAWING
WHEN: Friday, May 18, 2012 @ 8:30a
WHERE: School Auditorium
Riverside Drive Charter School’s public lottery drawing for enrollment will take place on Friday, May 18, 2012, at 8:30a in the school auditorium. The lottery is for those living outside the Riverside school boundaries. Attendance is not required.
WHO NEEDS TO FILL OUT AN APPLICATION
- · If your child is currently enrolled in the school on permit, he/she has now been “grand-fathered” into the school and WILL NOT need to fill out a lottery application and will no longer need a permit.
- · If your enrolled child on permit has a younger sibling not yet enrolled in the school, then the incoming student must apply for the lottery.
- · If this is not your child’s resident school AND you have no siblings in the school, you must fill out a lottery application.
Remember, if you do not fill out an application for the younger sibling seeking admission to the school, he/she will not be allowed to attend the next school year.
Siblings of current students will receive priority.
Lottery Applications are due no later than Thursday, May 17th @ 4:30p in the front office. CLICK HERE

SPECIAL NEEDS SUPPORT GROUP
ATTENTION: PARENTS OF STUDENTS WITH IEPs AND OTHER SPECIAL NEEDS
My name is Deborah Butler and I am the mother of a child with Autism at Riverside Drive Charter. Parenting a special-needs child requires a lot of time, patience and information! I am forming a support group and webpage for parents, staff and educators of special needs students at Riverside Drive Charter.
What does that mean? It means a chance to get to know other parents and share information. It also means a chance to hear from the staff here at school about who is working with your children, how to prepare for IEPs and who to contact if you have a problem.
I also hope to create a website to share links to important resources within LAUSD, the Regional Center and advocacy groups.
What else can we do?
- Further the school’s mission to create an environment of acceptance by holding a “differences fair” where children (and their parents) can participate in activities that illustrate what it’s like to live with various restrictions.
- Work with the school to create mentors and buddies for special needs students from the general ed. population.
- Use our unique experiences to share new ideas that may increase opportunities for inclusion.
Because of HIPPA restrictions, I can only contact you if you wish to be included, so please feel free to e-mail me at debsalebutler@gmail.com with any questions. I will not share your information with anyone. I look forward to hearing from you!
