Info for New Parents
Information about the enrollment timeline (if your child will be new to Riverside Drive) for the 2012-13 school year is TBD at this time. The enrollment steps are likely to be as follows.
- April 11, 2012 - Enrollment packages and lottery applications will be available
- May 18 - A public lottery will be held for families not in the school zone
- August 14 - Currently this is scheduled to be the first day of school

Parent Tours
Riverside Drive Elementary invites you to attend our Parent Tour hosted twice a year:
- Nov 16, 2011 — 8:30a – 10:30a
- April 12, 2012 — 8:30a – 10:30a
Tours include a presentation and Q&A with Principal Jennifer Kessler followed by a campus tour by our fabulous parent volunteers.

Incoming Kinder Events
Every year we host a number of Kinder “Playdates” to facilitate transitioning Kinders and their parents into their new school. We hope that by attending these, our new parents will meet other new parents and set up playdates for the summer. We hope that these playdates will make your child’s transition into Kindergarten easier.
Further, veteran Riverside Parents are always in attendance to answer any questions to make the parent transition easier as well.

Parent Mentorship
There is so much anxiety in going to a new school, in most cases, more so for the parents than the children. Did we make the right decision? Will my child be happy? Will he/she make friends? Am I getting the best teacher?
Let us help you through this transition. Let us connect you to another Riverside Parent with a child of a similar age who can answer your long list of questions and concerns. Perhaps a playdate or two will lessen your child’s anxiety. Riverside Drive prides itself on being a community school where children feel safe and loved.
