REC

Encourage, Inspire, Guide…Teach

On Thursday, April 30th, teachers and staff were treated to an amazing, international buffet prepared by our wonderful families in honor of Teacher Appreciation Week.  Thank you to everyone who contributed their time, resources and talents at this always lovely event. What a pleasure to see the true spirit of our community in action!

And, a special thanks to co-chairs, Michal Erez and Dana Rydeheard and volunteer coordinator Glenda Miretsky for organizing this event.  Your dedication and love for RDCS’ teachers and staff is evident!

This year in lieu of the traditional tokens of appreciation gifted to our teachers/staff, PFRD members remodeled the teachers’ lounge.  If you haven’t had a chance to take a peek, it is beautiful!  THANK YOU to all the parents who helped build furniture and paint the lounge.  But, the biggest THANKS goes to Dana Rydeheard for designing and working with the teachers for weeks to give them their dream lounge.

CHARTER RENEWAL COMMITTEE MEETING
WHEN:  Wednesday, May 27 @ 3p
WHERE:  Room 23 (Mr Wi’s Classroom)

It seems not too long ago we applied for our 5-year Charter.  Believe it or not, next year is year 5 !!

WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?
It means that we need to re-apply with LAUSD in order to continue to remain an affiliated Charter school.

TO RENEW OR NOT TO RENEW THE CHARTER
The charter allows us the autonomy, flexibility and finances required to implement many of our wonderful programs and resources that make this school so special.  But it also requires the support and dedication of all our parents, teachers and staff – our stakeholders – to keep it going.

The process of renewing the Charter requires thoughtfulness, creativity and manpower.  So we are getting an early start.

HOW TO HAVE YOUR VOICE HEARD
Be a part of the process.  Join the Charter Renewal Committee.  The first meeting of this committee is on Wednesday May 27, 2015 in Mr. Wi’s room (Room 23).

To RSVP for the meeting or express your interest or simply for more information, contact:
Christine Higgins – chiggiweb@hotmail.com.
All members of the Riverside community are welcome to participate.
